Burns Supper

The Calm Before The Storm

We worked hard on Thursday afternoon and then went for a walk.

We weren't the only ones on that mind as P6/7 caught up with us half way around.

The two classes were delighted to meet up and began playing in the old playground.

We had great fun letting off steam and ended up with a P1/2/6/7 conga!!!

Then class 1/2 decided to go and look for selkies and dragged P6/7 with them. (They were happy enough really!)

We looked for a while but the only seals we could see were on a jetty at the other side.

Strangely, they were keeping their distance!!!

Numeracy Cases

Number
P1 have number digits and words to 20 in their cases.

Put the numbers in order and match up the number words.

Number Bonds
P2 have number bonds in their cases. Go through these a few at a time as there are lots of them.

Add anything that is easy to the I CAN DO envelope. Remember to go over the contents of the envelope occasionally.

P1 and P2 both have matchsticks in their cases. P1 need to count the sticks setting them out in sets of 10.

P2 can set the sticks out in sets of five.

Then count the matches in the sets... 5, 10, 15, 20...

We need to learn to count in different steps.

We are working on counting forwards and backward in steps of 1, 2, 5 and 10.

Nursery Transition Time

I'm P1/2 and the nursery joined up for some activities in the morning.

We are going to develop this time on a Friday morning by introducing different experiences each week.

P1/2 helped the younger children in their classroom to choose play activities and then tidy up.

They also enjoyed visiting the nursery and playing with the play dough, sand and water.

In P1/2 there was drawing, painting and sticking. Some people used the maths mats.

They also enjoyed the small world play and dressing up.

Some of the P1/2 boys shared the class iPad.

The stencils were also popular.

P1/2 have a dark hiding place under the stairs and some of the nursery children enjoyed playing there together with P1/2.

It was good to see the children helping each other.

We had a great time. Next week we hope to go outside.
