Nursery Transition Time

I'm P1/2 and the nursery joined up for some activities in the morning.

We are going to develop this time on a Friday morning by introducing different experiences each week.

P1/2 helped the younger children in their classroom to choose play activities and then tidy up.

They also enjoyed visiting the nursery and playing with the play dough, sand and water.

In P1/2 there was drawing, painting and sticking. Some people used the maths mats.

They also enjoyed the small world play and dressing up.

Some of the P1/2 boys shared the class iPad.

The stencils were also popular.

P1/2 have a dark hiding place under the stairs and some of the nursery children enjoyed playing there together with P1/2.

It was good to see the children helping each other.

We had a great time. Next week we hope to go outside.

Toys

Our new topic is Forces and Motion.
We are looking at Toys and how they use forces to work.

We have started by looking at spinners and windmills and what sort of forces make them work.

If anyone has toys which work using forces such as gravity or magnetism, we would be delighted to look at them in class.

P6 Activities

Musical Journeys

Mrs Jones has been off this term so we have been doing musical journeys to fit with a space theme.

Firstly we investigated the sounds all the instruments made.

We had a go of everything in the music room. Some instruments were tuned and others were untuned percussion.

Then we had to think of how we would make a noise for a traveling rocket.

We had to think about what sort of noise would fit the action and how we could play it.

Then we got into groups. Each group had to work together with everyone contributing.

Everyone had to come up with a sound for different space features.

Once the groups had organised who was doing what, it was time to perform.

We started at planet earth and followed the path of stars before returning to Earth.

As our little rocket flew around the map everyone played their part.
