Cabbage Patch Kids

It is school grounds week so we decided to improve the area outside our classroom.

P1/2 prepared the soil in the cabbage patch.

We dug out the weeds and got rid of the large earth clods.

Everyone drew on an old CD to use as a bird scarer.

We all got a chance to plant out a cabbage plant in the space which we prepared.

Everyone did a good job.

Then we hung up the CD scarers.

We have also planted artichokes and some flowers.

Junk Model Challenge

We divided randomly into 8 groups of 2 or 3 people.

Each group had a set time to create a model of an octopus from junk.

We looked closely at different pictures to see what they looked like.

We looked for junk which suited the shapes.

We worked as a team and made sure everyone contributed.

There was definitely a head and 8 legs in each team.

They all did well and there was lots of good team work, but we ran out of time.

We will complete the models and display them after we have one more session to add the finishing touches.
