Q Pootle 5 - Group Challenge

We read a story about Q Pootle 5 today.

We discussed the story as a class.

Then the class was split into random groups of four.

Each group was given the challenge of creating a junk model spaceship and alien based on the story we read.

Groups had to plan how they were going to achieve success and everyone had to contribute to the challenge.

The groups had one hour to make everything and then tidy up.

The class decided the spaceship had to have rocket boosters, windows, a door, controls, landing feet, a steering wheel and a seat.

Every group got straight to work.

Not every group got as much done as they could have and we spoke about that at the end.

They came up with things they could do differently next time.

Each group will now use their junk models to retell the story of Q Pootle 5.

Perhaps the groups will even add some details and characters of their own to the story.

We will then see what another class thinks of our stories.

P1/2 were superb at their first group challenge. They even tidied up really well.

The groups had the chance to present their space crafts and tell the class what they had created and how they worked as a group.

There was lots of creativity and imagination involved. The groups managed to include many of the the things which were part of the success criteria.

Everyone got a chance to say what they had done to contribute to the group effort and what they would do differently next time.
