Hearing Impairment Awareness

Fred came into the class today to tell us about hearing aids.

He explained all about the senses.

He showed a model of an ear and how it worked.

He showed the part that didn't work in his ears.

He let everyone see the hearing aid up close and pointed out the little microphone which was how it worked.

Fred showed the class how to use some sign language. He then handed out a sheet for a colouring competition.

Fred finished with a song he had written.

P1/2 thought Fred was fantastic.

Outdoor Exercise

We are very lucky to have some great ideas for play being developed at our school.

The children love the opportunity to be active and social. It's great fun!

Rhyming and Spelling

We worked in small groups to create posters of rhyming words and sentences.

Some people used the rhyming and alphabet cups.

We finished off by writing rhyming sentences and some of those were quite entertaining!

Pre-School & P1 Activity

Some P2 pupils set up a hunt for P1 and Pre-School in the play park.

There was a ball each with their name on it. The older children helped the younger ones.

P2 gave a high five to everyone who found their ball.

Then we all played for a little while.

Living Things!

We heard the story of Jack and the beanstalk.  We chose 3 mystery seeds and planted them to see what would grow.

We are learning about living things as part of our seashore topic and we know that living things like seaweed and our plants need similar things to survive, just like us.

We will have to provide food, water and sunlight for our seedlings.
We discovered seaweed floats using bladders to get sunlight.

We have set our plants in the classroom window in a propagator so they get light and warmth. Hopefully they will grow soon!

Starfish Presentations

P5 have taught us some facts about starfish.

We all made a starfish and then had to work as a team to present what we had remembered.

Some of the facts were quite tricky to understand but P5 did a great job of explaining what they meant.

It was such a lovely day we decided to have the presentations outside where there was more space.

P6 came to watch what we were up to.

We used the tyres as our platform, as decided by the P1/2 pupils!

P5 helped and we all got a chance to say the bit we learnt.

We have been learning about seaweed too.

Watch out for our great drawings coming soon on this blog!
