We have been learning about Florence Nightingale and the important work she did to improve the conditions for soldiers in field hospitals.
We learnt that she was called The Lady of the Lamp so we made our own and added an origami candle to help us remember the story.
For the team challenge each group was given some paper, scissors and glue and 20 minutes to work together to produce a lantern with a candle remembering the skills they had learnt earlier.
The teams worked very well and every group managed the challenge and tidied up in the time given!
Each member of the group had a job and the team leader made sure everyone contributed.
The children enjoyed hearing about Florence Nightingale and they were surprised to learn that hospitals were once unclean and nurses were untrained.
